Kate Gosselin sues ex-husband over book

The dissolution of a marriage can be a stressful time that is full of heated disputes and emotional encounters. As Minnesota residents know, there are multiple factors that make a divorce a difficult process. However, with technology evolving all of the time, another problem might need to be added to the list of difficulties -- computer hacking. This is the case for former reality TV star Kate Gosselin. She is accusing her ex-husband, John Gosselin, of hacking into her phone and computer.

The couple starred in the TLC show "Jon & Kate plus 8," detailing life with their twins and sextuplets, before they separated in 2009 and later obtained a divorce.

According to the federal lawsuit, Jon Gosselin stole her hard drive, accessed email, bank accounts and other private information for a tell-all book entitled "Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World." The 2012 book was written by Jon Gosselin's friend and business partner, but was withdrawn from the market after two days because the information had been illegally attained, the lawsuit said.

The lawsuit accuses Jon Gosselin of invasion of privacy, identity theft, and wiretapping, and seeks unspecified damages. Besides their bitter divorce, the Gosselins have been entangled in a series of legal problems over the past few years, including custody disputes, speeding tickets and an alleged violation of child labor laws.

Divorce is never easy for either spouse, but when you combine a divorce with child custody disputes, spousal support and other factors, sometimes the entire process can become overwhelming. Also, many divorce cases these days involve some sort of electronic evidence, even if it's only a twitter feed or a Facebook post. Therefore, family lawyers are conscious of technological spying. It is prudent for any person facing divorce to find an attorney experienced in and who fully understands and will address the difficult issues that arise. Minnesota divorce attorneys will be able to guide you towards a satisfactory resolution to this personal and legal matter.
