Tv Chef Nigella Lawson and Husband Getting Divorce

July 19, 2013 by Sheridan & Dulas, P.A.

When celebrities divorce, there are often highly publicized arguments, discussions of prenuptial agreements and child support, and a large amount of media attention to the case. In many instances, couples in Minnesota who are not celebrities can experience the same challenges and difficulties in divorce, only without the media publicity. One of the most recent celebrity divorce announcements to ignite interest is that of Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson and art collector husband Charles Saatchi.

The highly recognized couple has decided to end their almost 10-year marriage in divorce. Saatchi ran the world’s largest advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi with his brother in the 1980s and since has been a well-known art collector. Lawson is a famous TV personality and chef whose cookbooks are best-sellers in Britain and the United States. Their divorce happens to be one month after a newspaper published photographs of Saatchi with his hands around Lawson’s throat outside a London restaurant.

Saatchi reportedly is divorcing Lawson because she did not publicly defend his reputation after photographs came out of him grasping her throat in the London restaurant. Saatchi reportedly downplayed the incident, which according to reports, was an animated debate over the couple’s children. Lawson and Saatchi married in 2003 and resided in London with Lawson’s son and daughter from her marriage to journalist John Diamond, who died of cancer in 2001, and Saatchi’s daughter from a previous marriage.

There are probably many couples in Minnesota who can attest to the fact that ending a marriage may be one of the more emotional things they will ever do in their lifetimes. When a couple does decide to divorce, thoughts about the future are usually around getting through the divorce process, visitation schedules and who gets what assets.

A knowledgeable, experienced lawyer can help make the divorce process and outcome the best it can be. The attorney should also be a guide through the divorce procedure, and clients must be comfortable with their attorneys, who are there to be supportive.
