Bruce and Kim Jenner Announce Separation

October 11, 2013 by Sheridan & Dulas, P.A.

The termination of a marriage after decades can be a stressful time that is full of fiery disputes and emotional situations. People are surprised when a couple – even a celebrity couple – head for divorce after many years together and announce that what they dedicated themselves to for years no longer is what they want.

Former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner and reality television star Kris Jenner have confirmed they separated a year ago, after 22 years together. The “Keeping up with the Kardashians” stars said they are still committed to their family and will continue to film scenes together. 63-year-old Bruce Jenner and 57-year-old Kris Jenner married in April 1991, less than a year after getting set up on a blind date.

No divorce papers have been filed as of yet, and the separation was first reported by E! News. This explains why Bruce Jenner moved out to his own beach house during the show.

Since Bruce Jenner found a house of his own, he’s still included on the series often. Kris Jenner has recorded scenes at his new home, as have the other Kardashian children. The couple’s teenage daughters also filmed at his house for the summer, because their house with their mother was too crowded after their half-sister Kim Kardashian moved in with Kanye West and their newborn daughter.

Bruce Jenner was married twice before and had four kids. Kris Jenner was divorced from Robert Kardashian, a famous attorney who defended O.J. Simpson in the murder trial of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. She already had four kids when she and Jenner met.

Divorce is never easy for either spouse, especially after decades and children together. In a high asset divorce, there are a variety of legal options that can be used, some of which may have put into place ahead of time, such as a prenuptial agreement. No matter what income bracket you’re in, though, it pays to learn more about your legal options before you file for divorce.
