1 Arrested And Accused Of Drunk Driving In Minnesota

December 27, 2017 by Sheridan & Dulas, P.A.

Being involved in a routine traffic stop can be a stressful and intimidating process. However, attempting to evade a similar situation by fleeing is never advisable and may only further suspicion of wrongdoing. A man has recently been arrested and accused of drunk driving in relation to his alleged involvement in a high speed pursuit in Minnesota.

According to reports, the incident began when authorities received reports of a driver who was exhibiting erratic behavior on a recent Tuesday evening. Upon locating the vehicle in question, officers proceeded to initiate a traffic stop, and assert the driver began to flee. They claim the vehicle reached speeds in excess of 100 mph before it was brought to a halt with use of tire deflation devices.

The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody soon thereafter and is facing numerous charges, including reckless and drunk driving. No information was provided as to whether field sobriety or breath tests were conducted, and it is unclear how authorities came to believe the man was intoxicated at the time. Authorities assert that two young kids were in the vehicle during this period, and the man is also facing child endangerment charges as a result.

A conviction for a drunk driving offense carries severe penalties, and those who face similar charges may find it advisable to seek guidance on how best to approach the situation. By speaking with a defense attorney, a person in Minnesota could obtain some much-needed assistance in forming a strong defense. An attorney can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client and assist in pursuing the best outcome possible during subsequent court proceedings.
